We're especially proud of our annual Tattoo Extravaganza, and proudly display some snaps and a write-up here so you can read all about what happens at a show.
The 2006 Colchester Tattoo Extravaganza was situated in Colchester Leisure World and Charter Hall for the first time. The show was split between the two adjoining sports halls of the facility, with the one containing the tattoo booths, set out in two colums. There was a far greater number of artists in attendance over the previous year, showcasing some of the finest artists of east england.
In the second hall were traders, jewellery stalls and tattoo supply stalls, as well as the Total Tattoo magazine stall and photo studio. A large bar was also present in the second hall, providing plenty of seating to ensure that people could relax whilst having a drink.
The entertainment was well thought out, with 3 bands playing to the large attendance. There were other unusual forms of entertainment such as fire eating jugglers, manacing storm troopers patrolling the venue and none other than the predator!
There was competition judging, this year by Gary Ravenhall, an 'A' level art and design principal examiner. With many prizes awarded spanning a range of categories.
It was obvious that a great deal of effort had gone into the show, and this was reflected by the attendees saying that Stewe, Glyn and the team at Colchester Body Arts had done a fantastic job. According to Pez of Total Tattoo magazine, this has the makings of a fine convention. The high spirits of all who attended would certainly suggest just that.
A warm, friendly atmosphere was present throughout the day as the venue filled from the moment the doors opened. When twinned with the bright halls and buzz of tattoo machines, you were reminded that you were attending a great tattoo convention. Things will only get better as the Colchester Tattoo Extravaganza continues to grow each year.
